Mahaweli Right Bank Canal Development to be expedited

The Government has decided to accelerate the development of the Mahaweli Right Bank Canal with the assistance of foreign investors.
  
This was disclosed at a meeting held at Temple Trees, Colombo presided over by President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (20) to review the development activities in the Mahaweli B Zone.
  
As a first step it is proposed to develop 39, 400 hectares of unused land belonging to the Mahaweli Authority and the Livestock Development Board so as to cover the two districts Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa.
