President meets Bishop Malcolm Ranjith

President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with Bishop Dr. Malcolm Ranjith, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments of the Vatican, at Temple Trees today (Sept.10).
  
Discussions between the President and the Bishop, the former Bishop of Ratnapura and Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, centered on the governments development plans for the East, following its liberation from terrorism; particularly the steps being taken by the government to restore the livelihoods of the people of the region.
  
The Bishop was appreciative of the government’s accelerated development programme for the East. The resolution of difficulties faced by the fishing communities in the South also featured in the discussions. His Worship expressed hope in the possibility of creating an environment in which all people of Sri Lanka could live in peace and harmony.
