The three arms of government – the executive, the legislature and the judiciary should work in tandem in order to safeguard the rights and interests of the people, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Civil Appeals Court Complex in Badulla on October 8.

He also said that being a lawyer for many years he has a high regard for the judiciary. “I have a strong confidence that the judiciary would act independently”, he added.
