In today’s globalised world terrorism has also become globalised. It is to meet the challenges of globalised terrorism that we need knowledgeable, disciplined and highly professional security forces personnel. The Kotelawala Defence University caters to this demand, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the 16th Convocation of the Kotelawala Defence Academy, now raised to the status of a University.

Our security forces are not only trained for war, they are also trained to provide humanitarian services in emergencies, as was the case in the tsunami disaster, the President noted. They also have a vital role in the administration and development of the areas liberated from the clutches of terrorism, he added.

Praising the security forces for their victories in the battle against terrorism the President assured that the Government would never betray the forces or allow anyone to belittle their honour.

Speaking on the National Question the President said that the Government would soon provide a solution to it through the All Party Representative Committee.
