[Monday, November 05, 2007 - 7.00 GMT]

We will defeat terrorism and fulfill our duty of bringing an honourable peace to our land where all communities could live in dignity and in harmony, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a ceremony inaugurating a Ranaviru Gammana (War Heroes’ village) at Seenimodera, Tangalle on November 02.

Our security forces are fighting with determination and commitment to liberate our land from terrorism. They have won several victories and we should not defame them, the President told the gathering.

The President assured the people that development would go ahead despite the struggle against terrorism and that it would reach the village unlike in the past. Already much has been achieved in the past two years, he added.
