Shooting on Tamil Nadu fishermen: SL Navy not involved

[Monday, November 19, 2007 - 7.15 GMT]

An in depth investigation conducted by the Sri Lankan Navy (SLN) has revealed that there was no involvement of its personnel in the alleged incidents of shooting on Tamil Nadu fishermen, as alleged by certain quarters in India.

In view of complaints made by Tamil Nadu fishermen that the LTTE forcibly took away their diesel in the mid-sea, political analysts are of the view that the shootings may have been done by the LTTE to implicate the security forces and spoil the good relations between the two countries.
