LTTE terrorists in six boats launched a seaborne attack on the Pesalai Police post in Mannar around 8 a.m. today. Navy ground troops and sea units have simultaneously engaged the LTTE boats damaging one boat.

According to the Media Center for National Security (MCNS) 17 LTTE cadres were killed in this confrontation. LTTE boats are retreated towards Vidattaltivu area.

Defense sources said Sri Lanka Navy also successfully crushed a LTTE attack at the Mannar Island short while ago.
