President arrives in Iran

President Mahinda Rajapakse arrived in Tehran today (26) for a 3-day official visit. He was welcomed at Mehrabad International Airport by Iranian Commerce Minister Massoud Mir-Kazemi.

An official welcoming ceremony will be held for President Rajapakse by his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad within coming hours, said the Iranian News Agency soon after the President’s arrival in Teheran.

During his stay there, the President will discuss key bilateral, regional and international issues with senior Iranian officials.

According to reports, a number of documents are expected to be signed by Iranian and Sri Lankan officials on bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, shipping and customs affairs as well as Tehran-Colombo cultural and commercial cooperation.
