Claymore bomb found near TNA MP's house

[Monday, December 03, 2007 - 7.30 GMT] 

Police and Air Force bomb disposal (BD) team acting on civilian information have found a parcel bomb on the Keppetipola Mawatha, at Jawattha, Colombo this morning (December 03). According to defence sources the bomb has been detected around 8.40.a.m. close to a telephone post, right opposite the residence of TNA Jaffna District Parliamentarian M.K. Shivagilingam at
Summit Flats. Colombo 5.

The sources said, that the bomb is an improvised explosive device made out of C-4 high explosives, and also contained large amount of tiny steel balls.
The weight of the bomb is about 1.5 Kg, the sources added. 

The Air Force Bomb Disposal team has defused the bomb which had been made to trigger off by an electrical detonator.
