The Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts issued a circular stamp with a denomination of Rs. 5 to mark the world record set by Muttiah Muralidharan today (03) in becoming the highest wicket taker (710 wickets) in Test Cricket. He beat Australian Shane Warne’s record of 708 wickets.

This is the first time a circular stamp is issued in Sri Lankan history. The stamp is of a denomination of Rs 5 with a design of 'Pulasthi Ediriweera' and a circular design denoting the cricket ball.

A first day cover and the commemorative sheet with 12 stamps with Muralitharan's signature were issued by Posts Minister Rauf Hakeem at a simple ceremony.
