At least 16 civilians were killed and 25 sustained serious injuries when a bus plying from Anuradhapura to Jankapura was hit by an LTTE claymore mine last evening (December 05, 2007) just a week after the Nugegoda bomb blast that killed 22 civilians.

According defence sources the terrorists have detonated a roadside bomb around 8.15p.m at Abhimanpura, on the Kebithigollawa - Padaviya road.

In a previous LTTE claymore mine attack, on June 15, 2006, a crowded passenger bus was hit in Kebethigollawa killing 66 civilians.

Meanwhile a prominent Tamil politician V. Anandasangari following the Nugegoda blast said that brutality has so hardened LTTE’s hearts of the hearts that they will never reform themselves.
