President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Madam Shiranthi Rajapaksa met Emperor Komatsu Akihito and Empress Shoda Michiko at Imperial Palace, Tokyo this morning (10). Emperor Akihitho also hosted a Lunch at the Imperial Palace in honour of the President.
  
The two leaders had a warm and cordial exchange of opinion on matters of mutual interest and on the current international situation.
  
President Rajapaksa expressed his appreciation of the assistance given by the Japan for economic development of Sri Lanka. He also appreciated the efforts taken by Japan to promote a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the country.
