President assures equal health facilities for everyone

[Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - 06.40 GMT]

It is my aim to provide equal health facilities for everyone and to set up a fully equipped hospital in every district said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

President made these comments at a ceremony to appreciate the service rendered by the staff of the Ampara Government Hospital which recently received the award for the best hospital in the Asia Pacific Region by the Asia Pacific Quality Organization for 2007.

This is the first time a government institute received such award based on international standards.

Expressing his gratitude to the staff for working as a team leaving all petty difference behind, the President said the people rely on the service offered to them by the government hospitals for a better health care facility. The government reserves a huge sum of funds to preserve the quality and the standard of the service provided by the government hospitals, President further said.
