Explosion at Buttala

[Wednesday, January 16, 2008 - 4.15 GMT]   

More than 23 people were killed in an LTTE claymore mine explosion at Okkampitiya, Monaragala this morning (16 January), defence sources said. Over 67 casualties were admitted to the Monaragala hospital.

Police sources said the bomb was placed inside the bus plying from Buttala to Okkampitiya.  

The Government has immediately dispatched a team of doctors with medicine and blood.
