Law to be more humane for
juveniles
[Wednesday, January 23, 2008 - 08.15 GMT]
Attention of the Government has been drawn to the need for separating
teenagers from hardened criminals in the country’s remand prisons. At
present a large number of teenagers are in overcrowded prisons alongside
notorious criminals, including re-convicts. It is also proposed to bring
amendments to the existing laws to make the Courts System more humane to
juveniles and teenagers with a view to emphasise their rehabilitation in
society.
