Presidential Awards for travel and tourism

Presidential Awards to honor those who have contribute immensely to the development of the country’s travel and tourism was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (January 28). 

Two former tourism ministers, Dharmasiri Senanayake and Anandatissa De Alwais, renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, former Principal, Ceylon Hotel School Mrs. Pearl Heenatigala, first chairman of Ceylon Tourist Board A.C.H.C De Zoysa , promoter of first Ayurveda Resort in Sri Lanka Mark Bostock and late Mr. Sudanapala Rodrigo were honored at the ceremony chaired by the Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake.     

Awards were also bestowed on the performances of star class hotels, airline, resort, communication, service excellence, tour guide, chef of the year, best destination, loyal partners in travel (local and foreign) and best provincial council promoting tourism.
