Explosion in Ethawatunawewa - 13 civilians killed and 16 injured

An LTTE claymore was triggered off in a passenger bus at Ethawatunawewa, Welioya around 3.50 last evening (January 4), defence sources said.

13 civilians were killed and 16 others including children were injured in the explosion. According to the hospital sources six out of them, including two children have been transferred to the Anuradhapura Hospital. Two among the dead are women, the sources added.

Meanwhile, 11 civilians including 8 students were killed and 92 others were injured when a LTTE female suicide cadre blew herself up in Colombo Fort on Saturday (February 3).
