Tamil Nadu Government firm in checking LTTE activities, says Karunanidhi

[Tuesday, February 05, 2008 - 05.15 GMT]

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi yesterday (February 4) asserted that the State Government was firm in preventing LTTE activities in the State, the Hindu reported today (February 5).

Refuting the charge that the LTTE was given a “free run in the State,” the Chief Minister quoting figures said in the last 20 months 12 cases had been registered, 11 LTTE volunteers and 92 supporters arrested.

Of them, 40 had been booked under the National Security Act.

Karunanidhi said the fact that many LTTE activists had been arrested in the last two years was a testimony to the Government’s firm action.
