Fighting in North continues

Fighting between security forces and the LTTE continues in Navatkulam, Vavuniya, defence sources said.

According to defence sources two LTTE were killed in confrontations last evening (February 7).

Meanwhile, in a separate attack in Umayaratuvarankulam yesterday, ten LTTE cadres were killed.

An LTTE bunker in Periyapandivirichchan was destroyed by the Security Forces killing four LTTE cadres.

Two soldiers were wounded in the confrontation.   

Two LTTE cadres were killed in fighting in Vilatikulam on Thursday (7). Three soldiers also sustained injuries.

Fighting between the security Forces and the LTTE in Welioya killed two LTTE cadres and one soldier.

Meanwhile, naval troops in Trincomalee yesterday recovered two T-56 weapons, four filled magazines, two micro pistols and two magazines with ammunition, two packs, two claymore mines, two anti personnel mines, five detonators and a few cyanide capsules.
