Container handling capacity in Colombo Port to go up

Container handling capacity of the Colombo Port will be increased with additional four berths. The Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with this regard submitted by Minister of Ports and Aviation Chamal Rajapaksa.

The approximate cost of the development project will be USD 19.4 million and the annual additional income generation would be USD 21.9 million.

The Cabinet has also approved Rs. 299.5 million to re-settlement of communities living close proximity to proposed Oluvil Port.
