Due to increasing
resistance from the family members of the dead
cadres, LTTE is hesitant to accept the bodies of
their dead combatants, Army spokesman Brigadier
Udaya Nanayakkara told media in Colombo today
(February 27).
"Since transporting dead bodies via A9 route poses a
great challenge to the LTTE enrollment process, the
LTTE disposes bodies of their dead cadres killed in
fighting without handing them over to their loved
ones", Army spokesman said.
The dead bodies of 14 LTTE cadres, killed in
confrontations in Wanni and Welioya on February 15
were handed over to the ICRC in Anurdhapura today.
