According to defence sources, the bomb explosion had occurred around 2.p.m. targeting the Sivanesan's vehicle travelling on the Mankulam - Mallavi road.

Mr. Sivanesan, age 51 years, was a Jaffna district parliamentarian who entered into the House as a TNA national list member in 2004.
