According to the Elections Commissioner's Department, 270,471 voters are eligible to cast their votes to elect 101 Members to nine Local Bodies in the district including the Batticaloa Municipal Council.

Six political parties and 21 independent groups are in the fray with 831 candidates for today’s election.
