Government is taking action to maintain buffer stocks of rice following a sucessful paddy harvest this Maha season.

This Maha season paddy harvest exceeded last year by 40484 metric tons.

More than 25,000 hectares of neglected paddy fields have been cultivated this year under Api Wawamu- Rata Nagamu programme.

Under Nagenahira Navodaya programme all neglected paddy fields in the East were cultivated resulting in a bumper harvest.
