ADB Doubles Funding for Southern expressway
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is doubling its funding for the Southern expressway. It has now granted another $ 90 million in addition to the original commitment of $ 90 million. This will facilitate the expansion of the expressway from two to four lanes and its early completion.

Additionally, ADB will provide a $300,000 grant to prepare a long-term land use and development plan along the expressway with particular focus on the 1.5 kilometers on each side.

Other financiers of the project are the Government of Sri Lanka, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the Nordic Development Fund, and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
