Assassination of Foreign Minister Kadirgamar:
LTTE leader and five others indicted in High Court
Leader of the separatist terrorist LTTE Velupillai Prabhakaran, its Intelligence Chief Pottu Amman and four others have been indicted before the High Court of Colombo in connection with the assassination of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.

The former Minister was assassinated at his residence in Colombo on August 12, 2005. The Attorney general filed the charges against Velupillai Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman alias Shiva Shankar, Charles alias Charles Master, Komadee Manimekala alias Madee, Muttaiyah Sahadevan and Isithor Arokyanathan alias Babu for conspiring with another LTTE member Vinothan to assassinate Minister Kadirgamar and committing the murder as a result of a conspiracy.

According to the charges they had conspired at Kilinochchi and Colombo between January 01 and August 12, 2005 to carry out this assassination.

The Colombo High Court had earlier convicted the LTTE leader Prabhakaran, in absentia, to 200 years in prison for planning the bombing of the Central Bank in Colombo in 1996 that killed 86 and wounded more than 1000 people.

The next hearing of the Prabhakaran and other accused in the Kadirgamar assassination has been fixed for April 02, 2008.
