Financial assistance to develop temples in East
The Maha Sanga in the East provided the strength and spiritual support to the people in the East to live without fear of terrorism said President Mahinda Rajapaksa  at a ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat today (March 13) to provide financial assistance to develop temples in the East.

President said that his government was able to remove the term ‘border villages’ from the daily vocabulary. “I welcome you not as the Sanga from border villages but as members of Sanga who have come from all corners of free Sri Lanka.”

“We will soon give to the people of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, the democratic freedom won by the people of the East,” assured the President.

When LTTE denied the religious freedom of people of this country, no organization that today speak of human rights came forward to ensure their rights. When we are fighting to liberate Madhu church today no one says we are fighting to ensure the religious freedom of our people.

President recalled the hardships faced by the Maha Sanga in the hands of terrorists and paid his gratitude to the Maha Sanga for saving the religion and the country.
