Pakistan Senators meet President |

A
delegation from the Standing Committee on Foreign
Affairs of Pakistan Senate paid a courtesy call on
President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential
Secretariat, Colombo this morning (14). Senator
Mushaid Hussain Sayed (Chairman) and 10 others
constituted the delegation.
The Senators told the President that the long
standing cordial relations between Sri Lanka and
Pakistan should continue despite changes in the
Government of Pakistan. They also commended the
stand taken by the Sri Lankan President in opposing
the move to expel Pakistan from the Commonwealth at
its recent Summit in Uganda last year. The Chairman
of the delegation also said that Asian countries
should work together to counter the wrong
interpretation of human rights developments in the
region.
President Rajapaksa referring to occasional crises
between the Executive and the Judiciary said that
they should be settled cordially. He also said that
vested interests are pursuing a policy to create
such conflicts.
