Two Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel was killed and 5 others were injured when LTTE detonated a claymore mine at Thandiadi in Batticaloa this morning (March 26).

According to the defence sources in the area, the claymore blast was carried out targeting a STF foot patrol in Valakalai - Thandiadi road.

The injured were admitted to general hospital Batticaloa. A search operation is in progress, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Air Force launched two separate air attacks at LTTE targets in Mannar and Kilinochchi today, Air Force sources said.

Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Andrew Wijesooriya said that the pilots have confirmed the targets were accurately hit.
