Network supplying LTTE uniforms busted in TN

The Coastal Security Group (CSG) police in Ramanathapuram busted a network involved in supplying uniforms to LTTE on April 1, the Hindu reported.

It came to light when a CSG team raided a boat near the fishing harbour in Rameswaram.

The boat used to make illegal trips to Iranatheevu.

They possessed photographs of model uniforms, which were supposed to be delivered to a group of tailors in Tamil Nadu.

Oomaiyan alias Christhu (38) of Karaiyur; Vellaiyan (28) of Thankatchimadam, the owner of the boat; Chellaiah (40) of Periamayakulam; Murugan (35) of Mandapam; and Arasu (40) of Rameswaram ventured into the sea in the guise of fishermen were arrested and the boat (TN-10-MFB-902) seized.

They had confessed to having visited Iranatheevu twice in the last four days.
