SL, Egypt FMs discuss regional security

Ahmed Aboul Gheit Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt met in Cairo with Rohitha Bogollagama who was on a official visit to Egypt recently and exchanged views on different regional and international issues of common interest including the situation in the Middle East, peace and security in Asia, United Nations reform and measures for Counter-terrorism.

The two Ministers confirmed during their meeting the importance of developing their bilateral relations, on both the governmental and private sector levels. They acknowledged the presence of vast opportunities to enhance trade, investment, cultural, and parliamentary relations, noting the efforts made by the two countries to apply various economic reforms on the national level, reflecting positively on their current economic and financial indicators.

Minister Bogollagama explained about the terrorist activities of the LTTE. Minister Aboul Gheit responded that they would always support Sri Lanka’s endeavors on action taken on counter terrorism and they condemn terrorism in all manifestations and forms including that of the killing of Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle.
