Stronger relations between UN and Sri Lanka

Angela Kane, The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, following her recent visit to Sri Lanka, looks forward to strengthening of cooperation between the UN and the Government of Sri Lanka.

She has assured keen interest in UN Country Team’s continued dialogue with the Government on continued initiatives on building trust ad deepening the partnership between Sri Lanka and the UN.

In a letter to Mr. Basil Rajapaksa MP, Senior Advisor to the President, Assistant Secretary-General Kane says her visit to Batticaloa was very informative and provided her with better understanding of the work of the United Nations there and the pressing resettlement issues and security concerns.

She has appreciated very much the arrangements made by the Government for her visit and for the opportunity she had to meet with President Mahinda Rajapaksa to whom she handed over letter from the Secretary General.
