BOI recorded highest ever investment in 2007
In year 2007 Board of Investment (BOI) achieved the highest level of Foreign Direct Investment and domestic investment. Investment reached the level of total $ 734m. This amounts to a 22% growth when compared to 2006 (US $ 604 million, a BOI press release said.

This record level in investment was the result a growth in confidence in Sri Lanka on the part of Foreign and Local investors.

In 2007, a total of 303 Project Agreements were signed. This figure represents a 23% increase from the previous year. It is the highest figure ever recorded by the BOI.

Sri Lanka has skilled labour, is well located and benefits from excellent free trade agreements with India, Pakistan and the European Union.
