An LTTE cadre blew himself up near the SSP office complex in Vavuniya this morning.

Twelve Police personnel were killed and 19 others were injured in the explosion, defence sources said.

According to initial reports received from Vavuniya, the explosion has occurred around 7.10 a.m., targeting the Police personnel leaving the SSP office for their duties.
