Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was yesterday appointed as the Chief Government Whip of Parliament at the Government Parliamentary Group Meeting held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.

The appointment was made to fill the vacancy created by the demise of Highways and Road Development Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle who held the post.
