‘No place for terrorism in Canada’

 
Terrorism – those who practise it and those who support it – has no place in Canada , said The Chronicle Herald, Canada in an editorial yesterday, June 23, 2008.

It was a sequel to a statement by Canadian Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day that the World Tamil Movement (WTM) had been raising funds to support the Tamil Tigers and the Canadian Government proscribing the WTM.

“Canada clearly cannot allow groups that use terrorism – or the organizations that support such groups – to operate legally in this country”, the Editorial added. At the same time it called upon Canada “to try to persuade both sides – the Sinhalese government and LTTE – to stop the bloodshed and realize an end to the conflict would benefit both peoples”.
