The token strike was organized by Janatha Vimukthi Perumuna, United National Party with the support of Tamil National Alliance, demanding a salary hike of Rs. 5000 for state employees.

Media reports reveal that majority of the workers are in their offices and no major incidents so far reported.

Police said there were no major incidents reported during morning hours, but they are continuously monitoring the situation
