The protest fast observed by the Dravida
Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) across the Tamil
Nadu State on Saturday, protesting against
the alleged killing of Tamil Nadu fisherman
by the Sri Lankan Navy along the Indian
Maritime Boundary, was a mockery, observed
State Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP), H. Raja.
Talking to reporters in Coimbatore the Vice
President said that DMK being part of the
Congress-led alliance should get out of the
Government first and then exert pressure through
such protest fasts, The Hindu reported
yesterday.
He also ridiculed the announcement by the
Electricity Minister, Arcot N. Veerasamy,
stating that there would be power cut for
one hour in Chennai and for two hours in the
rest of the State was contrary to the
reality.
The announcement holds good only in
respect of Chennai whereas the rest of the
State was already reeling under six to nine
hours of power cut every day.
