Madhu statue moved to Mannar Bishop’s residence

The Catholic clergy has moved the Statue of “Our Lady of Madhu” to the official residence of Mannar Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Rayappu Joseph, last evening.

Church authorities in Mannar shifted the statue to a safe destination in the Wanni following repeated LTTE attacks on the sacred Madhu Church in early April.

According to the Media Center for National Security the Holy statue will be placed back in Madhu Church once the renovation of the latter is completed.

Sri Lanka Army has undertaken repairs and renovations of the Church at a cost of Rs. 1.5 million.

The annual Madhu feast will be in next month.
