India hands over SAARC chair to Sri Lanka

 

Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh officially handed over the SAARC chairmanship to President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo this morning.

Today, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Bangladesh Head of State and Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Rhinley, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and host Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa joined the two-day summit at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall to discuss issues affecting the region.
