According to Department's sources 51,079 persons were eligible to cast postal votes. Only about 70% had made use of this option.

Meanwhile People's Action for Free and Fair Election says that 2000 observers will be deployed at the forthcoming Sabaragamuwa and North Central Provincial Council elections. Accordingly, 1500 observers have been recruited and trained so far.
