The SLAF fighter jets launched air sorties at a pre-identified LTTE strongpoint at Cheinkkonmalai, located 9km North of Vellankulam in Kilinochchi, yesterday.

Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said that the air raids were launched in support of the advancing 58 Division troops, who are now strategically gaining good ground at the western flank of the Wanni battlefront.
