Government to secure future of artistes

The Government is committed to improve the professional and living standards of traditional artistes and secure a bright future for them, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the Diyawadana Nilame and artistes who participated in the premier cultural pageant of Sri Lanka, the Dalada Perahera at President's House, Kandy on Sunday August 17.

The President also outlined the measures that are being implemented by the Government to establish a disciplined society with high moral standards. These include inter alia the anti-drugs campaign matata tita, the ban on Internet pornography, he said.

The Diyawadana Nilame Dela Bandara handed over to the President the Sannasa informing him of the successful completion of the Perahera, and the President awarded certificates and gifts to the artistes who participated in it.
