President sends greetings to newly elected Nepal Prime Minister

 

Your election is a reaffirmation of the values of inclusiveness and pluralism, which are shared by both our people, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a message of greetings to the newly elected Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today.

Excellency,

I write to convey my warmest best wishes to you on your election as the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nepal.

Winning the consent of the people of Nepal as well as the endorsement of the main political parties within the Constituent Assembly in a democratic framework under a Republic form of Government is a victory for both the people of Nepal and for Your Excellency. I am certain that under your gifted leadership your country will achieve political stability and rapid economic development.

Nepal and Sri Lanka enjoy longstanding historic and cultural ties. Our people share common cultural interests that have grown through the centuries. Your election is a reaffirmation of the values of inclusiveness and pluralism, which are shared by both our people.

I look forward to closer and active participation of Nepal in achieving the objectives of the South Asian Association for Regional cooperation that seeks to ensure a better life for our peoples.

I am confident that during your tenure of office as Prime Minister, the close and abiding ties between Nepal and Sri Lanka will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Let me therefore, Excellency, avail myself of this opportunity to extend to you on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka and on my own behalf, our best wishes for success in the service of your nation.

Excellency,

It is with immense pleasure that I extend my warmest congratulations to you on your election as the first President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Sri Lanka and Nepal share a common historical heritage and a strong commitment to achieve peace and prosperity. We have been working together to enhance our bilateral relations as well as forge regional cooperation through SAARC.

I am certain that under Your Excellency’s leadership, the existing bilateral relations between our two countries will be further consolidated and strengthened. I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency to promote cooperation for peace and development in our region.

May I take this opportunity to wish Your Excellency good health, happiness and success in all your endeavours during your tenure.
