The government yesterday announced round-the-clock power supply to Jaffna peninsula once the work on the Chunnakam Power Plant is completed by November.

According to the Ministry 24 mega watts of power is supplied to Jaffna currently and with the completion of the power plant the amount will be raised to 36 mega watts.

Fifty Chinese engineers and 50 resident constructors in Jaffna work on the power plant consisting of six generators of 6 mega watts each. Chunnakam Power Plant is expected to provide electricity to the entire Jaffna Peninsula and considerable effort has been expended in the construction.
