President calls for working people’s support to end terrorism

We have to defend our country from terrorism and create an environment for everybody to live in peace in any part of the country, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the Golden Jubilee Ceremony of the Employee’s Provident Fund (EPF) held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday (11).

He appealed to the working people to support the government’s struggle to end terrorism and usher in peace.

Reminding the audience that the EPF was established by a Government led by the SLFP fifty years ago, the President said that his Government is committed to defend the rights of the working people and their welfare.

While affirming the government’s commitment to defend the working people the President called upon them to struggle for their rights while being conscious of their duties to the country and the people. He particularly advised them never use children as a shield to win their demands.
