No negotiation with LTTE before surrendering arms
- President

There will be no negotiations or any form of ceasefire until the LTTE lay down their arms, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he met the members of Foreign Correspondents' Association at Temple Trees yesterday.

"We are chasing not only after Prabhakaran but also Pottu Amman to capture them alive," said the President.

President also said that once the Security Forces capture Prabhakarn he will be punished under the law which prevails in this country. If India requests to prosecute him for the killing of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, we can consider the matter favourably.

President said that he was confident the international financial institutions like World Bank and Asian Development Bank will assist the government to develop the North as they are doing in the East.

When asked about falling of Kilinochchi President said capturing Kilinochchi is definite but it will take some time.

We are committed to restore democracy in the North once the region is liberated from LTTE, assured the President.

The meeting lasted for more than 3 hours.
