The Indian Congress on Saturday said it was
worried about the situation in Sri Lanka,
particularly about civilian casualties, but
said it was not supporting the cause of LTTE
or its chief Prabhakaran.
"We are only concerned about the civilian
casualties. We are not supporting the cause
of LTTE and Prabhakaran. It is a banned
organisation in India," Congress media
department chief M Veerappa Moily told
Indian media.
Asked whether the move by DMK MPs to
resign within a fortnight was a threat to
the UPA government, Congress media
department chief said they have only
expressed their concern.
To a question what the government can do
beyond expressing concern, Moily said that
in bilateral relations, such things do
matter.
