Tribute to our heroic forces

 

All government institutions conducted special programs today to pay their tribute to the heroic forces for their recent landmark victory over the Kilinochchi.

The program begun with the hoisting of the National Flag at 8.30 and the observance of two minutes silence at 8.35a.m in remembrance of the fallen war heroes.

At the ceremony which was held at the President Secretariat, there was a Anusasana preached by the Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Nayake Thero, of Sri Naga Vihara. There were also blessings to the heroic troops by the clergy Hindu, Muslim and Catholic priests.

Similar ceremonies were conducted at most private sectors establishments, too.

Ven Sobhita Thero in his ‘anusasana’ called at the people on the to be ready to sacrifice for the heroic troops and also said it will be necessary to strive hard to rebuild the trust and harmony among all people of Sri Lanka damaged due to terrorism.

The Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga in his brief address called on all public servants to follow the exhortation given by Ven. Sobhitha Nayaka Thero, and work hard to build a fully prosperous and united nation in the future.
