Security Forces liberate Pallai, Soranpattu

 

The 53 Division of Sri Lanka Army liberated the Pallai town yesterday.

Army infantrymen of 1 Vijayaba Infantry Regiment (1 VIR), 5 VIR, 5 Gamunu Watch (5GW), and 1 Gajaba Regiment are the first to enter into the town where the terrorist earlier had their heavy artillery gun positions.

Pallai is located 280 Km from Kandy in the Jaffna peninsula.
Meanwhile 55 Division of Sri Lanka Army have liberated Soranpattu village last evening (Jan 8), said the defence sources. Soranpattu is situated 9 Km from Elephant Pass and 5.2 Km from Pallai town down the A-9 road (Jaffna- Kandy).

According to the sources, infantrymen of 6 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (6SLLI), 7 Vijayaba Infantry Regiment (7 VIR), 4 Gemunu Watch (4 GW), and 8 VIR have entered the village after wiping out the terrorist hideouts in the area.
